Legacy of Dynasties: Slot Overview
Legacy is an interesting thing. Some people want their name and deeds to live on in the minds of the living long after they’re gone, while others couldn’t give a hootenanny. Just thinking out loud here, but those people who do achieve a lasting legacy, how much do we really know about them? There are biographical details, sure, but the actual person, who they really were, in any ways, often remains a mystery. Then again, do we really know anyone? Oh boy, mental rabbit holes aren’t always a sign of an absorbing online slot, and Legacy of Dynasties from Play’n GO was one that struggled to hold much interest. It’s an expanding symbol ‘book of’ style slot, which the studio has a ton of, like, a ton under its belt already. In a mildly shock move, this one’s not an Ancient Egyptian-themed example, though. Care to check what else is going on?
Legacy of Dynasties is an Asian-themed slot held in a room full of Asian-inspired curiosities like a bonsai tree and so on. The sort of place that might have a Mogwai in a cage downstairs in the basement kept safely away from bright light, water, and no feeding after midnight. Sorry, wrong slot, got sidetracked. A 5-reel, 3-row gaming panel is the centre of attention, where a bar displaying all of the pay symbols sits encouragingly up the top. Legacy of Dynasties is pleasantly presented, but not to the point that it inspired scouring Skyscanner for cheap flights to Asia to experience the real thing.
As far as winning potential in a ‘book of’ game goes, Legacy of Dynasties is way down the pecking order. Maybe at the bottom. It’s not overly volatile either, more in the medium range with a 6 out of 10 rating. Stakes of 10 c to $/€100 may be selected, and wins are formed when matching symbols land on any of the 10 paylines from the leftmost side over adjacent reels. Regular wins, at least, expanding symbol wins are not so strict.
The pay symbols are J, Q, K, and A, playing card royals as the lower value ones, then a frog, peacock, panda, tiger, lady and man as the 6 high pays. Getting a winning line of 5 low pays awards 5 times the bet, while 5 high pays are worth 10 to 100 times the bet. Wild coins are present on all reels and substitute for any of the pay symbols. A full wild winning line pays out 200 times the bet.
Legacy of Dynasties: Slot Features
If expanding full reel symbols don’t float, your boat best be paddling away now because this is one of Legacy of Dynasties’ main features.
Expanding Symbols
Up to 10 regular symbols (not wilds or scatters) are randomly chosen to be a special Expanding symbol. When Expanding symbols land on at least 3 reels, they expand to cover all positions. Expanded symbols do not need to be adjacent to create wins.
Free Spins
Landing a scatter on reels 1, 3, and 5 triggers the Free Spin Wheel. The wheel spins to award 3-10, 15, or 20 free spins. Up to 10 random Expanding symbols are chosen on every spin. During free spins, if 2 scatters land, they trigger Dynasty Spins. These are free spins within free spins, carrying over the number of potential Expanding symbols from the triggering spin. Players randomly get 3-8 Dynasty spins when activated. Dynasty Spins cannot be triggered within Dynasty Spins. During a bonus round, when the total of free spins (including Dynasty Spins) reaches 70, the round ends.
Legacy of Dynasties: Slot Verdict
Do you think Play’n GO gets bored of making these sorts of games? Maybe they do since Legacy of Dynasties pulls away from the Ancient Egyptian theme most closely associated with expanding symbols to make use of Asian subject matter. Instead of Pharaohs, we’ve got wise men and tigers, though apart from the window dressing, Legacy of Dynasties is largely business as usual. The studio has made an impressive amount of these games – Legacy of Dead, Legacy of Inca, Legacy of Egypt, Pilgrim of Dead, Book of Dead, Cat Wilde and the Pyramids of Dead, and on and on it goes. And on. Sorry, but ‘of’ fatigue was settling in strong the day Legacy of Dynasties was reviewed.
This isn’t necessarily to say that in a vacuum, Legacy of Dynasties is a total dog mess of a game. Players looking for an Asian-themed ‘book of’ slot (not sure anyone is) might be intrigued since the theme is not as prevalent in this slot category. What does kinda suck, though, is Legacy of Dynasties’ winning potential. At 2,300x the bet, it’s one of the lowest you’re going to find in the category. Is it a deal breaker? Pretty much, and a downer considering the features here are so close to those used in other ‘Legacy’ games, which could hit 5,000x+. Why the drop? The max win probability isn’t bad for a Play’n GO slot, but it’s not especially amazing compared to some of the competition, at <1 in 100,000,000.
Now, we’re no seers, divining the future through crystal balls or hidden rituals, but it is hard to see Legacy of Dynasties leaving much of an actual legacy. As far as ‘book’ slots go, it’s one of the weakest reviewed in a while and outside of hardcore Asian slot devotees who aren’t fussy about winning potential or absolutely dedicated ‘book of’ completists, who exactly will be lining up to spin Legacy of Dynasties when there are so many better options? Tough to answer that one.
